New world?

Yesterday I had a meeting with one of our customers. We wanted to meet somewhere in the middle (the customer is from Luxemburg) and we chose Berlin. The distance from Wroclaw to Berlin is about 340 km so we decided to go by car.

How to make your outsourcing project fail?

Looking for an outsourcing partner? Seems to be easy today. However, not every outsourcing project turns to success. What are the reasons? Obviously different if you look at this from customer’s or vendor’s point of view.

Saturday thoughts

I have just realized that it’s almost 5 years ago when we decided to start PGS Software. There were many reasons for this. One of them was a desire to be independent.

After short trip to Belgium

I have just returned from Belgium. We visited one of our customers there. We tried to book a flight to Brussels, but without a direct connection Wroclaw-Brussels, it takes at least 6-7 hours from leaving my house to enter the customer’s office. So we decided to go by car, saving thus also a lot of money. It took us 9 hours and was ok. with one funny exception at the end. We drove using the GPS navigation till the last turn in Antwerpen, when our GPS told us to turn left. Well – it was an one-way street and we were at the wrong end of this street. We made a small round and again the same happened. We have managed somehow to get there finding the other end of the street . What was the reason? They changed the direction of this one-way street couple of days ago. Funny.

Then we had a very intensive meeting with the great and professional team of our customer and on the next day we drove back. The number of traffic jams in Germany was enormous. After 12 hours drive  landed in my own bed .

Bad news: the visit was that intensive that I didn’t manage to buy any Belgian chockolates? Maybe next time?

Cost per hour or cost per work?

Companies which decide for outsourcing have different reasons. Cost saving is for sure one of the most important ones. Some of our customers told us about their prior experience with outsourcing to Asia before starting cooperation with PGS Software.

New office in Rzeszow coming soon

This will be the fourth time in PGS history that we move our office. Each time to a bigger and better one. After we moved our office in Wroclaw couple of weeks ago, we will move also our Rzeszow office. The new office will be much bigger (about 450 sq.m.) and MUCH more comfortable. We hope to do it in the next 2 weeks. Next task: fill the office with new PGS developers. We will have a place for about 20 new developers. Let’s hope, we will grow fast.

And this is why we decided to move:

Pictures from the new office will come soon.

Posiadanie trzech synów to wielkie szczęście. Ale oprócz szczęścia zdarzają się również miesiące takie jak ten. Oto kronika kwietnia 2009.

Wrocław – Rzeszów – Wrocław

Mam sukcesy. Motoryzacyjne.

W niedzielę po południu pojechaliśmy samochodem do Rzeszowa. Zajęło nam to ok 5 godzin. No więc dojechaliśmy wieczorem. Spaliśmy tutaj: Hotel Marand. Blisko biura i zupełnie fajnie.

W poniedziałek poszliśmy do pracy, potem zawieźliśmy do nowego biura trochę nowych mebli, które przywieźliśmy z Wrocławia i ruszyliśmy w drogę powrotną. Mimo poniedziałku i większego ruchu na drodze byliśmy we Wrocławiu po niecałych 5 godzinach. Byłem miło zaskoczony
