Saturday thoughts

I have just realized that it’s almost 5 years ago when we decided to start PGS Software. There were many reasons for this. One of them was a desire to be independent.

Well… I don’t know what would be the decision if we knew what running an own business really means. This is not that I am somehow disapointed. No, I am really happy, but sometimes we start to do different things being not quit aware of what expects us. That is good – otherwise it would be very difficult to make any decision. Anyway – it’s been almost 5 years.

What are the results of it?

Business related:

  • a public listed company with over 60 professionals.
  • Two locations (Wroclaw, Rzeszow)
  • Customers in many countries in Europe and USA
  • Having partners in many countries in Europe, who sell our services to local companies
  • status of Gold Microsoft Partner
  • 7 Certified Scrum masters
  • People travelling to our customers to many countries (Germany, UK, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, France and even… Argentina)
  • and many more..

More personal:

  • neverending stress
  • some sleepless nights
  • working 8 hours a day was only a dream…
    but
  • a possibility just to stay home instead of going to the office (well… I have used it probably 2 times during last 4 years, but this is always an option)
  • satisfaction, that we managed it somehow
  • and maybe some more, which don’t come to my mind at the moment

So, what is the balance? Would I do it again? The answer is simple: yes, this was one of the best decisions I made in my professional life. And for sure: the most important one. It’s easy to say this now, after we succeeded. What would be the answer if we didn’t succeed? Thanks God I don’t have to answer this question.
